Congratulations to our sixth class pupil Glaucilene who was awarded Sportsperson of The Year 2024 in recognition of her phenomenal contribution to sports throughout her time in St. Mary’s.

Congratulations to the children and staff of St. Mary’s Primary School on attaining the 10th Green Flag for Global Citizenship Food & Biodiversity which was raised today by two pupils from the school- the youngest pupil in the school, Jerome and the oldest member of the pupil body Pamela.
The Green Schools Committee have worked for two years promoting Global Citizenship Food & Biodiversity among all classes and to the wider community. The committee is made up of three teachers; Ms Máiréad Byrne, Ms. Ciara O’ Toole, Ms Katie Manicle as well as twenty pupils representative of each class from second to sixth.
Classes worked hard planting and harvesting their own produce. They focused on where our food is coming from. A visit was made to the country market and the children spoke to some of the food producers. The school polytunnel is full of healthy produce with each class busy harvesting and cooking tasty, healthy dishes.
Thank you to the Board of Management and the Parents Association for their ongoing support.
The sun shone down on the children who were brightly dressed in green for the occasion. The Green Schools Committee were presented with special certificates and pins to celebrate their achievement. As part of the celebrations, there was a special dance performance of the school’s dance troupe who were coached by the wonderful Megan Maher. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the pupils got a big round of applause.
Third classes got the crowd into further celebratory mood with their cheerleader like chant and the drummers drumrolled as Pamela and Jerome led the committee up to the flagpole. The flag was unfurled to shouts and cheers from the whole school.
The crowd were then treated to a concert in the yard provided by Nenagh’s very own Dáwna Conor Fahy. The pupils danced, cheered and sang their hearts out. It was a fantastic day and a fitting celebration for our school on this great achievement.

Ms. Majella's Junior Infants had 'the best day ever'! 🌞😃 First, there was Zumba with Christine💃🕺, followed by some yoga🧘♀️🧘♂️, fun in the playground and then over to St. Mary's Secondary School for time on the inflatables🛝.
To top off the day, we had a cool ice-cream. We loved our Fun Day! 🎈✨️👌👏

Senior Infants had a fantastic Fun Day today! 🥳🥳We began with Zumba with Christine. 💃🏽💃🏽We danced up a storm before heading over to St Mary’s Secondary who kindly allowed us the use of their hall for lots more fun on the inflatables. 🏰🏰This was followed by a visit from the ice cream van. 🍦🍦It was the best day ever!

Ms. Forde & Mrs. O’Connor’s Second Class had an absolutely amazing day today on their Fun Day. The children got to enjoy the amazing inflatables provided by Adventure World Summer Camps. We got to go on the ‘Bucking Bull, Wrecking Ball, the Obstacle Course and Air Mountain’. Thanks to St. Mary’s Secondary School for allowing us to use their facilities.
Along with this the children had the chance to experience Zumba and we finished off the day with a visit from the ice-cream van. It was a great day enjoyed by all. 🍦☀️🕶️🏃♀️
Senior Infants made their last visit to the New Institute for Dance with Megan this morning. 💃🏽💃🏽It’s been a fantastic four weeks. 👏👏We’ve learned so much and have enjoyed every minute of it. 🧐🧐☺️Thanks Megan❤️❤️

Senior Infants took a trip to Nenagh Library this morning for Storytime. Thank you to Margaret who read us 3 wonderful stories which we really enjoyed 📖
This afternoon, we had a drama workshop with Joanna in our classroom 🎭 We listened to a story about a colourful fish and we had great fun playing games & pretending to be sea creatures 🐠 🦈 🦀

Well done to our 5th class pupils, Ciara G, Ciara N, Eimer and Onora who proudly represented our school in the @nenaghlawntennis Primary Schools Competition today. The girls played many competitive games, tried their hand at table tennis and finished off the day with pizzas and ice pops!

We have made some special happy memories in our final weeks of the school year. Senior Infants had so much fun on their School Tour to Free Range Kids Pet Farm in Croom recently 🚍 ☀️
The girls and boys enjoyed seeing all of the animals 🐇 🦆 🐄 🐎 🐑 🐖 made cookies 🍪 played in some beautiful playgrounds 🛝 and completed an obstacle course through the forest 🌳

Thanks to all at Basecamp for such a fun-filled, action-packed day in the forest today with the weather cooperating beautifully 😎☀️We released our inner warriors in Splatball and tried our hand at archery which was so much fun!! We had a surprise participant in our day when Sammy the Squirrel 🐿️ made an appearance too. The girls and teachers will certainly sleep tonight!
Ms. Majella's Junior Infants had a fabulous time on their school tour today, in Tearaways Pet Farm & Activity Centre, near Birr. 😁🌞🚌
We loved seeing all the animals, including alpacas, sheep, llama, emu, a donkey, a pony, a Dexter cow and a Scottish Highlander bull. 🫏🐑🐐🦙🐂🐄🐏
We especially loved Pamela the pig, who was very friendly. 🐖
We really enjoyed the outdoor playground, the highlight of which was going for a spin in the barrel train.🚜🚂🛷🥅
After eating, we used up a lot of energy in the indoor play area. 🏃🏃♀️🤸🤸♀️😃 We will definitely sleep well tonight .😴

We got to see all of the animals on the farm, we played outside in the playground and went on the outdoor train. 🚂

The girls and boys enjoyed the amazing Fossett’s Circus show. 🎪 🤡 We got to see a various range of animals like hens, geese, kids, horses, donkeys and even peacocks. 🦃 🐓 🐐 🐄 🦚 A wonderful train ride provided us with a quick tour of the grounds also. 🚂
The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of Bunratty Castle and we finished off our day playing in the playground. 🏰
Sports Day for 2nd to 6th class took place today and what a day it was! ⚽🎾🏀🥏🏒🥅 Pupils participated in a huge variety of activities throughout the day such as, rounders, parachute, relays, water races, soccer, obstacle courses, giant noughts and crosses and so many more! A huge thanks to Ms Moran and the 6th class pupils for organising and running such a fun filled, enjoyable day for everyone. 🤗👏 #ActiveSchools
To finish off our Active Schools Week, Senior Infants had our sports day today. 🏀⚽️🏈🥎We had an action packed day, from start to finish. We played lots of fun games in the yard…. Jig saw races, tunnel ball, teddy bear races and giant snakes and ladders. 🏀🏐We attended yoga in the Arts Centre, followed by a teddy bears picnic. 🧘♀️🧘♂️🧸🧸🧸We had great fun playing parachute games and trying out the obstacle course. 🪜🪜We were all tired going home today but it sure was a day to remember. 🤗🤗Thanks to Ms. McAvinchey’s 6th class for helping out with the activities today. 😀😀

We went dancing with the wonderful Megan Maher. 💃🏽🕺We tried our hand at some hockey. 🏑🥅We also attended yoga with the ever patient Nora Shanahan. 🧘♀️🧘♂️A big thanks to the Active Schools Committee for organising the wide range of activities for us to enjoy. Fourth class had an “eggsciting” day. They used various materials to make a protective coat for eggs. Only two eggs survived the drop .

Senior Infants had a great morning. We went to dance class with the wonderful Megan Maher. She taught us lots of new dance steps. 🕺💃🏽We really enjoyed our time with her. We look forward to learning lots more next week. 👏👏
Mrs. O’Connor’s Second Class studied the butterfly life cycle this month and as a result we decided to grow butterflies in the classroom. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the steps of the butterfly lifecycle come to life.
The children were delighted to release the butterflies today and relished in knowing that they have helped the environment in their own little way.
Monarch butterflies are pollinators. When butterflies stop on a flower to sip on the nectar, the flower dusts pollen onto the butterfly. As it moves from flower to flower to consume nectar, the pollen on the monarch is transferred to the next plant — leading to pollination!

As we begin to contemplate our final few weeks with our current sixth class it seemed appropriate to have Mr. Kevin Whelan of Nenagh Walking Tours guide us through our historical town today. A very enjoyable and educational experience .❤️💙
