St. Mary’s garden is always a hive of activity with the girls busy preparing soil for planting, sowing the plants, then weeding, watering the plants or harvesting.  We are very lucky to have a polytunnel in our school.  We have been taking part in the GIY (Grow it Yourself) programme for schools over the last two years.  We have grown garlic, radishes, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, parsnips, lettuce and a whole variety of herbs.

Our wildflower garden is also keeping the girls busy and enjoying being outdoors.  The girls worked very hard to create a beautiful space for biodiversity in our school.  They painted and decorated the space, planted wildflowers, made birdboxes, decorated beautiful stones to add colour, gathered compost and even managed to create a fairy home or two!  The orchard is taking shape with our first crop of apples ready for picking.

The girls often enjoy art lessons in the garden, finding great inspiration in nature.  St. Mary’s truly is a Green School!
